In 2021, celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Reverso's birth, the "Reverso Tribute Nonantième" was released in a limited edition of 190 pieces. It combines multiple complications and features a new aesthetic. With its elegant front design and the dramatic complications revealed from the back, this model exudes a charm distinct from previous Reversos.

Ninety years ago, Jaeger-LeCoultre created the Reverso for polo players who wanted to protect their watch crystals during matches. Its reversible case and distinctive Art Deco lines quickly garnered widespread support, leading to the development of various colorful Reverso variations. However, for the first 60 years, it did not incorporate complications and was solely a time-telling watch.

Sixty years after the Reverso's debut, in 1991, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveiled the "Reverso Soixantième," the first model to feature complications like power reserve and date display, allowing a glimpse of its intricate movement through a sapphire crystal case back. While the Reverso's case and movement were not originally designed for complications, this watch maximized the potential for enjoying finely crafted mechanisms. Now, in 2021, marking the Reverso's 90th anniversary, Jaeger-LeCoultre presents the latest chapter in this story: the "Reverso Tribute Nonantième," which combines multiple complications and boasts a new aesthetic.

The case is crafted from 18K pink gold, adorned with the signature gadroon motif. The front features a silver sunray-brushed dial with gold Dauphine hands and applied indices, exuding sophistication and elegance. A small seconds counter with a moon phase display is positioned at 6 o'clock, while a large date display sits at 12 o'clock, both framed by pink gold borders that echo the rectangular shape of the dial and case.

Turning the case over reveals a surprising combination of multiple complications. The dramatic and captivating design hidden on the back is entirely different from that of previous Reversos. The case back is characterized by two circular openings of different sizes, arranged in a figure-eight pattern, with their upper and lower edges framed. The smaller upper opening displays a digital semi-jumping hour. This complication, a first for the Reverso, evokes the digital display developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre for wristwatches in the 1930s.

Below the hour display, the minutes are shown on a rotating disc, partially obscured by a vibrant lacquered 3/4 plate crafted by the Métiers Rares® workshops, depicting a blue night sky dotted with small golden stars. In the small central circle, a golden sun and moon traverse above a horizon line, indicating day and night. Below the horizon, a semi-circle features a sunray pattern background with a JL logo.

The movement is the manually wound Caliber 826, newly developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre's engineers specifically for the Nonantième. Comprising 230 components, this caliber can display the time simultaneously on both sides of the watch and offers a 42-hour power reserve. The "Reverso Tribute Nonantième" is produced in a limited edition of 190 pieces and is exclusively available at Jaeger-LeCoultre boutiques.
