Cartier Privé's New 'Tank Asymétrique' Adds Personality to Your Wrist | CARTIER

CARTIER

An Asymmetrical Design Where the Dial Reads True When You Grip the Wheel

EDITOR’S EYE
In an era of automotive advancement, it expresses a smart attitude of taking the wheel oneself, rather than employing a driver.
This model's charm lies in its nobility, avoiding an overly sporty inclination.

The "Tank Asymétrique" has been newly added to "Cartier Privé," a collection that focuses on Cartier's iconic collections. This is a distinctive new model whose case shape brings a strong personality to the wrist.

A Fusion of Unique Case Form and Refined Dial Design

The "Tank" was a model that, in an era dominated by round watches, adopted a rectangular form in 1917 thanks to the innovative idea of Louis Cartier. While various series were produced between 1917 and 1936, the "Tank Asymétrique," born in 1936, also known as "Parallelogram" or "Rhombus," became a distinct entity from the "Tank" models that preceded it.

The dial is tilted 30 degrees to the right, positioning the 12 o'clock index at the upper right corner of the case and the 6 o'clock index diagonally opposite. The insert acts as the axis of symmetry in the center of the watch, ensuring legibility. These de-cluttered details are unique to this watch and lend it a strong presence on the wrist.

Inside the refined case lies the hand-wound Caliber 1917 MC manufacture movement, meticulously crafted by watchmakers. This movement is exceptionally precise. It is paired with an 18K yellow gold case, a champagne-gold dial, and a strap specially made for the angled case.

Also available is a limited edition model featuring the specially developed Caliber 9623 MC skeleton movement. This caliber visually connects the 12 and 6 o'clock indices with the unique case, which is tilted 30 degrees to the right, creating a rhythmic dial design.
This elegant and original timepiece, combining a platinum case with a clear brilliance and a shiny blue leather strap with an ardillon buckle—uncommon for haute horlogerie—is offered in a worldwide limited edition of 100 pieces, each with a serial number.
