Vintage and Modern, Two Styles Merged. A New Collection to Savor the Depths of Mechanical Watchmaking

From <Seiko Presage>, which conveys Japanese aesthetics to the world, a new series "Style60’s" will be available starting Thursday, June 10, 2021. This series recreates a vintage style based on the design of the "Crown Chronograph" released in 1964, allowing enthusiasts to enjoy the depth of mechanical watches. The collection features six models in total.

Earth-Tone Dials, Nylon Straps, and Open-Heart Designs: A Diverse Range of Variations

The new "Style60’s" series from <Seiko Presage> inherits the design of the "Crown Chronograph," which was popular in the 1960s, recreating its vintage style while incorporating modern elements. Launched in 1964 as Japan's first chronograph, the "Crown Chronograph" featured several groundbreaking new functions. Its design included a retro box-shaped crystal, a wide dial for excellent legibility, and a solid bezel with Arabic numerals, earning it a devoted following.

The "Crown Chronograph" (reference) announced in 1964
The "Style60’s" inherits these design elements, employing a distinctive box-shaped crystal for the windshield to evoke the vintage feel of the 1960s. The dial features three-dimensional indices and sharp hands, also inherited from the "Crown Chronograph." The outer circumference of the indices is finished with different textures in a circular pattern, adding a rich tactile quality. This not only enhances legibility but also creates a dial with a soft, warm appearance that changes with the viewing angle.

The rounded case is angled inward for a secure fit on the wrist, ensuring comfortable wear. Additionally, the lugs feature polished surfaces added through meticulous finishing, creating a sharp impression and a refined presence that complements modern lifestyles.
This collection is offered in six diverse models. Dial colors include basic black and vintage-inspired ivory, as well as green, reflecting the popular earth tones of the 1960s and beyond. On select models, the Lumibrite has been treated to appear faded, further enhancing the vintage aesthetic.
Four models feature stainless steel bracelets, while two models introduce nylon straps in black and brown for the first time in the Presage line. Furthermore, one model features an open-heart design with a skeleton structure at the 9 o'clock position, offering a more accessible glimpse into the charm of mechanical watchmaking. Other models include practical calendar functions. With a range of designs and functionalities, customers can choose a model that suits their lifestyle and preferences.
