Yohji Yamamoto's Black Meets GMT Function: The Big Bang GMT All Black Yohji Yamamoto
[EDITOR'S EYE]
Only 50 pieces will be made. I believe this is a very precious collaboration model.
It's particularly meaningful given both parties' dedication to expressing black.
The matte texture also speaks to Mr. Yohji Yamamoto's signature style.
Hublot has announced the "Big Bang GMT All Black Yohji Yamamoto," a limited edition model that will be exclusively available at the "Hublot Boutique Ginza," set to grand open on May 2020 on Ginza's Chuo Dori.

A Limited Edition Model Bearing the Name of a Fashion Legend
Swiss luxury watch brand Hublot has announced the "Big Bang GMT All Black Yohji Yamamoto," a limited edition model to commemorate the grand opening of "Hublot Boutique Ginza" on Ginza's Chuo Dori in May 2020. Regarding this piece, Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe stated, "We are extremely proud to have collaborated with Mr. Yohji Yamamoto, a global icon in fashion, for the opening of our Ginza boutique. In this all-black limited edition, we have fused Mr. Yamamoto's 'black' aesthetic with the complex GMT (dual time zone) function to express a singular, simple beauty."
Mr. Yohji Yamamoto commented, "The idea that the times of two cities, say my bases of Tokyo and Paris, can exist within a single watch, and moreover, that this is 'invisible,' strikes me as quite interesting, given my own less-than-straightforward nature. I am delighted to have participated in a commemorative model for the Hublot Ginza boutique, opening in Ginza, one of Japan's leading districts."
This exclusive timepiece is the result of a collaboration between Hublot and the avant-garde fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto, globally renowned for his "black shock" that overturned conventional notions. The watch, themed "duality," displays two different time zones thanks to its GMT function.
At the heart of the timepiece lies the HUB1251 UNICO, a Manufacture movement from Hublot. It features a patented module that allows for easy switching between time zone correction modes simply by pressing a push-button. The home time and day/night indicator, shown by an arrow-shaped hand, can also be set via the crown. In line with this "dual" concept, the Yohji Yamamoto logo at 6 o'clock is uniquely designed to appear doubled.
In 2006, Hublot unveiled its groundbreaking "Invisible Visibility" concept All Black collection. Similarly designed in "all black," this new limited edition embodies the essence of the Hublot brand.
The case is crafted from micro-blasted black ceramic, complemented by black hands, a black rubber strap, and smoke-finished sapphire crystal for the watch face, all unified in an "all black" aesthetic.
Manufactured by skilled watchmakers at the Swiss headquarters, this watch is one of only 50 limited pieces and will be exclusively available at Hublot Boutique Ginza.
