A Watch Celebrating Innovation in Aviation and Honoring Mountain Rescue Professionals

Founded in 1968, Air Zermatt is now considered one of the world's most skilled mountain rescue teams, comprising 75 pilots, paramedics, technicians, and support staff, operating a fleet of 11 helicopters, and running a training school. Hamilton has supported their activities for a decade. To mark the 10th anniversary of their partnership, the "Khaki Aviation Converter Auto Chrono Air Zermatt" has been released in a limited edition of 988 pieces.
This timepiece is based on Hamilton's "Khaki Aviation Converter Auto Chrono," a highly functional pilot's watch. It features a slide rule bezel with logarithmic scales, enabling pilots to calculate crucial flight data such as ground speed, distance, fuel consumption, and flight time. The chronograph function is integrated, replicating the expertise of professional pilots. A convenient day-date display is also located at the 3 o'clock position.
This model is equipped with the high-performance, Hamilton-exclusive H-21-Si chronograph movement, engineered to function accurately amidst the turbulence and rapidly changing external temperatures encountered in mountain rescue flights. While cockpit instruments can be magnetized, the use of a silicon balance spring, known for its excellent antimagnetic properties, ensures precise timekeeping even during perilous rescue operations.
The watch features a glossy black dial, with striking gradient subdials in a vivid blue reminiscent of the Matterhorn's glaciers. The rotating bezel markers are also unified in the same Glacier Blue. The tips of the hands, inspired by the red helicopters that symbolize the rescue team, create a striking contrast on the dial, while the stylish bar indices add a sophisticated urban touch.
The "Khaki Aviation Converter Auto Chrono Air Zermatt" is produced in a limited edition of 988 pieces, mirroring the number of missions the rescue team had completed between its founding in 1968 and January 2021. The case back is transparent, printed with the Air Zermatt logo and engraved with "Limited Edition 988 Pieces." It also comes with a special package inspired by the Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) devices found on Air Zermatt's helicopters.
