The <Seiko Presage> watch, embodying Japanese aesthetics, has been released in a limited edition featuring an Arita porcelain dial that expresses the scene of "Suigetsu"—the moon reflected on water. This watch, limited to 2,000 pieces worldwide, is available at Seiko Boutiques, Seiko Watch Salons, and Seiko Global Brand Core Shops. The release began sequentially in Japan and overseas on June 26, 2020.

It offers a wide range of products that fuse unique designs rooted in Japanese aesthetics with advanced technology. From this watch brand that expresses Japanese beauty, the "<Seiko Presage> Prestige Line Arita Porcelain Dial 2020 Limited Edition," which depicts the moon, has been released.

Since ancient times, Japan has had a deep connection with the moon. The fact that the lunar cycle was used as a calendar, and the abundance of stories and poems inspired by the moon, suggest its profound influence on Japanese culture and art. Among these, the scene of the moon on the water, "Suigetsu," which seems to reflect the ephemeral nature of the moon's ever-changing form, has sparked people's imagination, inspiring countless stories and poems.

This limited edition watch captures that fleeting beauty through its lustrous, newly colored pure white dial made of Arita porcelain, and a crocodile leather strap designed to evoke the subtle brightening of the water's surface under moonlight.

The Arita porcelain dial, which achieves its striking colors and three-dimensional form, was completed after an extensive research and development period to ensure durability and precision suitable for a watch dial. This was made possible by a highly durable porcelain material with more than four times the strength of conventional materials.

Furthermore, the complex and challenging process—involving casting using ultra-high-precision molds, firing at 1300°C, followed by glazing and multiple firings—was supervised by Hiroyuki Hashiguchi, a ceramic artist belonging to the 190-year-old established kiln, "Shin-yo-gama."

While traditional Arita ware is characterized by a pale, bluish-white hue, this piece achieves a "hakuji" (white porcelain) dial that leverages the pure whiteness of the porcelain material by applying a transparent glaze. Moreover, the gentle curve on the dial's surface, slightly thicker due to the nature of porcelain, and the soft undulations of the sub-dial, showcase the exquisite elegance characteristic of porcelain.
