The "Cover Girl" model, which graced the cover of the brand's book, is made "Airweight" with titanium.

In 2020, ZENITH collaborated with the international media Revolution & The Rake to revive the iconic "A3818" El Primero. The original "A3818," released in 1971, graced the cover of Manfred Rössler's book “Zenith: Swiss Watch Manufacture Since 1865,” earning it the nickname "Cover Girl" among vintage watch collectors and El Primero fans. However, due to its short production run and limited quantity, it is considered a rare and elusive vintage El Primero watch. The ZENITH x Revolution Chronomaster Revival A3818 "Cover Girl," a modern remake, quickly gained popularity among vintage watch enthusiasts and sold out immediately.
Then, in 2022, ZENITH, in collaboration with Revolution & The Rake, introduced the Chronomaster Revival A3818 "Airweight Cover Girl," a new revival of the "Cover Girl" with a modern touch.
The "Airweight Cover Girl" features a Grade 5 titanium case and bracelet, the only titanium that can achieve a mirror polish finish, weighing in at just 78.2 grams. While maintaining a similar overall finish to the original, the transition from steel to lightweight yet robust titanium was incredibly challenging, requiring extensive experimentation and significant effort to perfect. Furthermore, in a first for ZENITH, titanium has been used for the ladder bracelet, originally designed by the renowned Gay Frères company in the 1960s, featuring polished center links.
Regarding the unprecedented use of titanium, Julien Tornare, CEO of ZENITH, stated, "Just as ZENITH introduced the world's first integrated automatic chronograph movement in 1969, our tradition has always been to push the boundaries. While we have used titanium for A386-style cases in models like the Chronomaster Revival 'Shadow,' we had never used it for the bracelet. However, we felt this was the perfect opportunity. We are ambitious and enjoy working on limited editions that offer true value to collectors."
One of the most striking features of the original "A3818" is undoubtedly its dial. This new iteration faithfully reproduces the vertical brushed finish and the super-man blue dial, with shark tooth hour markers, a tachymeter scale, and the logo and text all treated with Super-LumiNova® for a modern touch. The Super-LumiNova® is finished in a more natural "C1" white color compared to the previous revival model.
Through the sapphire crystal case back, one can observe the 5Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour) frequency of the Caliber El Primero 400, a faithful successor to the original high-frequency El Primero automatic chronograph movement introduced in 1969. The ZENITH x Revolution & The Rake Chronomaster Revival A3818 "Airweight Cover Girl" is a limited edition of 250 pieces and will be available at ZENITH boutiques or the online boutique.
