Introducing Two Models with Three-Dimensional Dials and Intricate Movements from the "Sharp Edged Series," Plus a Limited Edition GMT Model
Seiko is launching two new models in the "Sharp Edged Series" of its sophisticated Japanese aesthetic design collection, Presage, featuring a newly developed open-heart mechanical movement. These models will be available from June 10, 2022. Additionally, a limited edition GMT model, the "Presage Sharp Edged Series Limited Edition," will be released on July 22, 2022, with a global production of 900 units, 100 of which will be available in Japan.
A New Open-Heart Caliber Designed for the Joy of Observation
Two new regular models and one limited edition GMT model from the "Sharp Edged Series" of Presage, a collection that embodies sophisticated Japanese aesthetics, will be released, each featuring a newly developed open-heart mechanical movement.
The two regular models are equipped with the newly developed "6R38" mechanical movement. This open-heart specification achieves a beautiful finish by removing some parts without compromising durability. The intricate world of the movement is visible through the open-heart window at the 9 o'clock position, allowing enthusiasts to enjoy the precise operation of the mechanical watch. With a power reserve of approximately 70 hours, it is practical enough to be worn on Monday even if left unworn over the weekend.
The beautifully three-dimensional dial, composed of two parts, emphasizes a stepped construction that flows into the indexes. The 12 indexes create a layered, floating effect, resulting in a visually captivating dial. The dial is also adorned with the series' signature "Asanoha" (hemp leaf) pattern. This motif, used in textiles since the Heian period, symbolizes growth and success, as the hemp plant itself is known for its strength and rapid growth.
The dial colors adopt traditional Japanese hues: "Shiro-neri" (white silk), representing the lustrous white of fine silk, and "Ai-sumi" (indigo ink), a deep, bluish-black. The case is designed to taper from the sides towards the case back, creating a sleek impression. Furthermore, by alternating between mirror and hairline finishes on the case sides, the series' characteristic sharp silhouette with defined edges is maintained while enhancing its beauty and sophistication.

Additionally, a special "Sharp Edged Series Limited Edition" model featuring a GMT function will be introduced. Inspired by the majestic, verdant blue of Mount Fuji, a symbol of Japan's natural beauty, the dial expresses a deep, rich navy blue. The bezel is paired with a lustrous ceramic component, and the color palette echoes the dial, creating an even more refined aesthetic. As a special feature unique to this limited edition, it comes with a glossy navy horse leather strap that complements the dial's color.
