Sophisticated Modern Design Available in Blue and Grey Versions
Girard-Perregaux was founded 230 years ago in 1791, the same year William Gregor, a British clergyman, discovered titanium in Cornwall, England. This new Laureato Absolute Ti 230, commemorating this 230-year milestone, is a timepiece that merges this element—known for its lightness and excellent corrosion resistance—with the manufacture's savoir-faire.
The 44mm case is crafted from Grade 5 titanium, chosen to represent both the dual narratives of Girard-Perregaux and William Gregor, and because it is a metal that can be polished. The lightly sandblasted case is surrounded by polished surfaces, creating a beautiful interplay of luster and subtle shadow.
In addition to the octagonal bezel and crown, the harmonious contrast between straight lines and curves imparts a refined aesthetic. Furthermore, the crown is adorned with a rubber ring matching the strap color for the first time, enhancing its visual appeal.
The dial features a sandwich construction, with an upper layer featuring numerous cutouts placed over a lower layer. The grey lower layer is partially visible through the openings in the upper layer. This design allows the cutouts to function as luminous baton-shaped indexes while skillfully emphasizing the dial's overall three-dimensionality.
At the heart of this timepiece beats the automatic Caliber GP03300-1060, manufactured to Girard-Perregaux's exacting standards. The strap, true to the Laureato tradition, is integrated with the case—a characteristic inherited from the original model introduced in 1975.
The strap combines supple yet durable FMK rubber with injected titanium, achieving perfect harmony with the dial's color. Its fabric-like texture, accented by grey stitching, adds a touch of vibrancy. The strap can be precisely adjusted for a comfortable fit using a titanium folding clasp with a micro-adjustment system.
The new models will be available in blue or grey, each produced in a limited edition of 230 pieces. To further emphasize this significant anniversary year, the blue models will initially be available exclusively at Wempe's 10 stores and their New York and London flagship boutiques for the first month after release, before becoming available at all authorized Girard-Perregaux retailers and the brand's website. The grey models will be available at all authorized Girard-Perregaux retailers and the brand's website concurrently with their launch.
