Seiko Watch Proposes New Design Possibilities
Seiko Watch is relaunching the "power design project," which proposes new design possibilities.
The Theme for 2022: "REBIRTH"
The "power design project" was an internal initiative by Seiko designers that ran from 2001 to 2009, serving as an experimental endeavor to explore new design possibilities. It was an activity where designers deeply considered the brand's future in a style distinct from their daily tasks, pursuing the potential of watches based on an annual "theme."
Now, the "power design project" is being revived after 13 years, aiming to propose new ways of thinking about design and its possibilities through wristwatches, unconstrained by existing concepts.
Additionally, an exhibition of the "power design project" will be held at "Seiko Seed," a communication hub where visitors can experience the diverse joys of watches, from December 21 (Wed) to February 19 (Sun), 2023.
The theme for 2022 is "REBIRTH." Eight designers have taken distinctive watches and technologies born from Seiko's long history, expanded their ideas and imagination, and "reborn" them into seven products.
① Radiant Time
It's a "timeless radiance" that brightly illuminates the streets of Tokyo.
② PUT ON TIME
A playful watch that overturns the concept of "wearing on the wrist."
③ Shika-kuro
Which square chronograph captures your heart?
④ ADVENTURE KIDS Watch
Packed with specifications for active children!
⑤ Time Sonar 434 Feels
Does the text peeking from the calendar window detect your fate for today?
⑥ TISSE our time
A watch that reflects our multifaceted nature and the present, transcending gender.
⑦ Ceramic Ball
What happens when a historic digital watch is reborn for the modern era?
