RESERVOIR, the French watch brand known for its unique designs inspired by measuring instruments, has released the new "Sonomasters Chronograph" collection, which takes its motif from vintage audio amplifiers.

Founded in Paris, France, in 2016, RESERVOIR is a unique watch brand that reflects the passion of its founder and CEO, François Moreau, a fervent collector of vintage instruments.

Crafted with inspiration drawn from vintage instruments, RESERVOIR watches embody the functionality and aesthetic appeal of meters found in the worlds of automobiles, aviation, and marine exploration. They feature an innovative time display combining three complex mechanisms: retrograde minutes with a 240-degree range reminiscent of a tachometer, a jumping hour evoking a distance meter, and a power reserve inspired by a fuel gauge.

This new collection from RESERVOIR turns its attention to the world of sound, presenting the "Sonomasters Chronograph," which adapts the measurement of sound to the measurement of time, inspired by the "VU meter" of analog stereo amplifiers. It marks the brand's first introduction of dual retrograde displays on the dial (for date and seconds, oscillating within a 120-degree arc) and a chronograph function.

This dual retrograde chronograph is powered by the new "RSV-Bi120" caliber, faithfully reproducing the "VU meter" needles with two retrograde hands on the left and right of the dial. The left dial displays the seconds, with a scale from 0 to 30, and the seconds hand returns to 0 every 30 seconds. The right dial indicates the date, with a scale from 0 to 31, and the hand resets to its starting point at the turn of the month.

In homage to the "VU meter" that inspired the concept, the crown is designed to resemble an amplifier's control knob, while the push-buttons mimic bass and treble knobs. Red zones are incorporated into both dials, with a cream-colored background for the main dial and a striking black for the scale, providing clear contrast.

Both retrograde counters are recessed into the main dial, evoking the "VU meter" set within an amplifier's front panel. The "Sonomasters Chronograph" is a unique new collection born from the fusion of two distinct worlds: watchmaking and audio equipment.
