Panerai began its Zodiac series in 2009, honoring the twelve signs of the Eastern zodiac. Now, the 12th model has been released to celebrate the Year of the Rat, which begins on January 25, 2020 (Lunar New Year). Panerai first created limited edition models inspired by the zodiac in the Year of the Ox, 2009. With this Year of the Rat, the cycle is complete, and this zodiac series has become a part of Panerai's legend.

The special Luminor Sealand – 44mm, celebrating the 2020 Year of the Rat, features a unique depiction of a mouse motif on its cover, crafted using Sparselllo, a classic Italian decorative technique.

This technique is named after the tool used for incising metal, resembling a small scalpel. Skilled artisans meticulously engrave the cover, made of AISI 316L steel, then inlay it with gold thread, carefully hammering to fill the recesses. Approximately 50 hours are dedicated to creating this exquisite decoration for each watch.

The beautiful and functional cover opens to reveal a mirror, protecting a grey dial set with Arabic numerals, hour markers, and Super-LumiNova® dots. The watch is powered by the P.9010 automatic caliber, developed and manufactured in-house at the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel, measuring 6mm in thickness. It offers a 3-day power reserve thanks to its twin barrels and features a rapid time adjustment function for the calendar. The strap is a semi-matte calf leather in gold with beige stitching, and a spare black rubber strap is also included, easily interchangeable with the provided screwdriver.

This Panerai Luminor Sealand – 44mm is produced in a limited edition of 88 pieces worldwide and is exclusively available at Panerai boutiques.
