The "Kuon," featuring a fluid, beautiful form and a warm, translucent porcelain dial, is released.
Seiko will launch two new models from Credor's new design collection, "Kuon," on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
An elegant watch expressing "the endless flow of time, from the distant past to the future."
From Credor, a brand that has pursued elegant watches ahead of their time, incorporating various elements such as thinness and comfort, comes the new "Kuon" collection. Two models have been released, aiming for "timeless beauty" and a "pleasant touch," realizing a fluid and beautiful form.
To achieve a soft form that seems to "wear the flow of time," this piece features a curved surface shape that extends from the case side to the lug, and an integrated structure where the bracelet is attached directly to the case without end pieces. Furthermore, to express the "flow of time," the "supple and light movement of water" is represented by the dynamic curves of the case and the beautiful edges that divide these surfaces into top and sides. The匠 (takumi - master artisan) meticulously polishes each surface one by one, paying close attention to the direction of the edges and polishing, to enhance the beauty of the case's form.
The integrated structure, with the bracelet directly attached to the case, minimizes looseness around the lugs, achieving both "beautiful form" and "high wearability." The bracelet is meticulously finished by skilled artisans to ensure a beautiful line flows seamlessly from the case to the bracelet when worn. The 7-row bracelet, designed to conform to the wrist, features slightly wider polished sections to further emphasize the flow from the case to the bracelet. Additionally, the links of the bracelet have smooth, curved surfaces where they contact the skin, providing a comfortable fit.
The porcelain dial is created by applying a vitreous glaze by hand and firing it at high temperatures. During this process, the surface tension of the molten glass naturally forms a spherical surface, giving it a warm and translucent appearance that accentuates the fluid form of the case.
Of the two models announced, the "GCLX997" features newly designed Roman numeral indexes for the Kuon, applied to the dial along with the logo through black overglaze transfer. The other model, "GCLX999," displays wedge-shaped bar indexes and the logo in navy blue overglaze, presenting a clean aesthetic. Both models utilize tempered hands for the hour, minute, and second hands, as well as the power reserve indicator on the back. The navy blue overglaze is paired with matching navy tempered hands, while the black overglaze features Credor's first blue-gray tempered hands, creating a harmonious balance with the dial.
This piece is equipped with the new manual-winding Spring Drive movement exclusively for Credor, "Caliber 7R31." Featuring a dual spring barrel, it incorporates two mainsprings in parallel within a single barrel. This design allows for a slim profile while achieving a power reserve of approximately 72 hours, among the longest for a Credor-exclusive movement. The movement, adorned with a beautiful wave pattern reminiscent of flowing water, can be admired through the exhibition case back.
Additionally, a power reserve indicator is positioned on the back, designed so that the duration for each day can be read solely by the length of the three arc lines. Tempered screws are used for the movement's finishing, offering a beautiful contrast.
