A Spherical Dial Expressing Softness and Elegance

Since 1969, Seiko has introduced various luxury watches primarily made of precious metals under the name "Special Selection Watches." Credor emerged from this collection as Japan's first luxury dress watch brand. The name, meaning "golden peak" in French, has been cherished for a long time for its beauty and reliable quality, embodying Japanese aesthetics through the skill of its artisans.

Among Credor's offerings, the Gold Feather is a model that inherits Seiko's lineage of thin mechanical watches, with a strikingly slim form suitable for the modern era. As its name suggests, its design concept is to be "thin" like a feather, "light," "air-filled," "lustrous," and "graceful." It is a U.T.D. (Ultra Thin Dress) (※1) model that combines specifications and design befitting a contemporary dress watch.
The dial features a modern interpretation of the delicate, washi-paper-like texture pattern used in the early models. Its spherical shape is incorporated, lending it an elegant aura. Furthermore, the printing technology of the time was revived to reproduce the delicate and graceful Roman numeral indexes, meticulously handwritten by artisans.
To prevent the intersections of Roman numerals V and X from becoming blurred, "slits" were added to reduce ink pooling during printing. Additionally, "serifs" (ornaments at the corners of the typeface) were added to the right-angle parts of the Roman numerals to extend the corners and create a cleaner impression. Moreover, by combining these techniques with modern multi-layer printing methods, the finish is more three-dimensional and lustrous compared to the original.
Furthermore, a thin line is printed in the center of the hour and minute hands, shaped like the shaft of a feather. The minute hand is also bent along the dial, ensuring excellent legibility. The exquisite balance between beauty and practicality is captivating.
Through the see-through case back, one can admire the vibrant blue of the tempered screws (※2) and the beautiful movement. The case form, which conveys a sense of softness, is combined with a warm silver dial, embodying the delicate sensibility inherited from the brand's early days. This is truly a finish befitting an anniversary limited model.
U.T.D.
Abbreviation for "Ultra Thin Dress." It is a long-standing name used since the <Seiko U.T.D.> model released in 1969, referring to thin mechanical watches equipped with the ultra-thin mechanical movement "Caliber 68 series," which is 1.98mm thick.
It is characterized not only by its thinness and beauty but also by its practicality.

Tempering finish
Refers to the blue color of the oxide film formed on the surface by heating iron. The color of the oxide film varies greatly depending on the temperature and heating time,
so it is necessary to stop heating at the moment a deep, vibrant blue is achieved. Skilled artisans meticulously polish the base by hand one by one,
and then heat it to prevent color unevenness.
