The New Royal Oak Offshore Music Edition Expresses Equalizers with Pop and Color

From Swiss haute horlogerie manufacturer Audemars Piguet comes the Royal Oak Offshore Music Edition, a collection inspired by the world of music. Available in case sizes of 37mm and 43mm, the collection features two titanium models, two gem-set 18K white gold models, and one black ceramic model. The tapestry dials depict the motif of an equalizer, a piece of equipment found in recording studios. This vibrant design celebrates the creative synergy and collaborations that the manufacture has fostered with the music scene for several years. The enduring popularity of the Royal Oak means these new models are sure to be highly sought after.

A Dial Design Evoking the Recording Studio Ambiance

Sound has always been an important element in watchmaking, as evidenced by the fact that church bells once announced the time before dials allowed us to perceive it. Since its founding, Audemars Piguet has been a pioneer in the development of minute repeaters that produce beautiful sounds, akin to musical instruments, thereby strengthening its connection with the world of music. The Royal Oak Offshore collection has seen numerous collaborations with artists over the years, fostering mutual influence.

The new Royal Oak Offshore Music Edition features a design that celebrates this long-standing relationship. The tapestry dial, inspired by the equalizer motif, the fluted plots reminiscent of jack inputs, and the crown guards that evoke mixer faders all contribute to the recording studio ambiance. While maintaining a pop and colorful style, the watches exude a sense of robustness, elegance, and refined preciousness.

The 37mm titanium case model incorporates the design of the Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph of the same size, featuring wide chamfers and a curved crystal, similar to the 43mm version. The colorful equalizer motif stands out against the spacious dial, which omits the date window. The strap is a mosaic-patterned blue rubber, matching the dial, but the interchangeable strap system introduced in 2021 allows for customization with the included mosaic-patterned turquoise blue, yellow, and green rubber straps. The 43mm model also comes with a blue rubber interchangeable strap matching the dial, along with three additional turquoise blue, yellow, and green rubber straps in the watch box. The sapphire and titanium case back is engraved with "Limited Edition of 500 Pieces." Both of these references allow a view of the automatic movement through the sapphire case back.

The 37mm and 43mm models in 18K white gold feature dials and bezels set with harmoniously cut colored stones. The dials are made of blue aventurine and, like the titanium models, adopt the equalizer motif. The equalizer motif is rendered using ten colors of gemstones, including ruby, peridot, tsavorite, green sapphire, blue sapphire, and orange sapphire, in an invisible setting. The bezel is also set with the same colored stones, echoing the dial and vibrantly accentuating both models.

Harmony cut is a cut developed to set fine stones with lifelike brilliance. The angles of the stone facets are designed to maximize reflection, ensuring that even very small stones (0.65mm on the dial) display their color to the fullest. This technique also conceals the thin grooves required for the invisible setting on the dial, allowing for a slim profile (0.85mm or less on the dial). To further enhance the sparkle of the dial, the colored stones set on the bezel also feature the harmony cut.

The 37mm model is set with 166 colored stones, totaling approximately 3.7 carats, while the 43mm model features 230 stones, totaling approximately 6.15 carats. Like the titanium models, these two watches also feature the AP monogram at 12 o'clock, along with 18K white gold indices and hands. Both sizes come with an interchangeable blue rubber strap, plus three additional interchangeable turquoise blue, yellow, and green rubber straps.

The music-themed new line also includes a 43mm black ceramic model, where titanium components gleam against a monochrome design. Printed on the tapestry dial are colorful equalizer graphs in ten shades, which brighten the exterior while emphasizing a contemporary aesthetic.
