A Clock Tower 90th Anniversary Model Featuring a Dial Inspired by the Granite of Wako's Main Building

Wako has announced a limited edition of 50 watches to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Wako Clock Tower, a landmark in Ginza. The watches will be released on Thursday, April 28, 2022, with reservations opening on Thursday, February 24.

An Elegant, Slim Dress Model That Complements Any Attire

The Wako Main Building is known as a landmark in Ginza. The current clock tower is the second generation, completed in 1932. This year, 2022, marks the 90th anniversary of its completion, as well as the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Wako Corporation. To commemorate this occasion, a limited edition WAKO watch has been created.

Wako has previously produced WAKO watches to mark the 60th, 70th, and 80th anniversaries of the clock tower's completion. This time, the watch features a dial inspired by the granite used on the exterior of the main building, with Arabic numerals used for some of the hour markers.

In response to customer requests for an elegant, thin wristwatch that is easy to pair with any outfit, the Cal.6898 with a small seconds sub-dial has been adopted. This movement is from Seiko's premier dress watch line, the ultra-thin manual-winding Cal.68 series. This caliber, measuring a mere 1.98mm in thickness, is a masterpiece that even skilled watchmakers can only assemble one to two pieces of per day.

The case back features a "CLOCK TOWER 90TH ANNIVERSARY" inscription and an illustration of the main building, printed on the glass so as not to obscure the movement's heart. The serial number is also engraved, further emphasizing the special nature of this model.

Only 50 units are available. Purchasers will receive charcoal gray and navy crocodile leather straps, along with a watch case (limited edition color: gray) from the Spanish leather brand "Box San Sebastian."
