Zenith's 2022 New Releases! Three models arrive, updated in both function and design while inheriting the DNA of pioneering models.
Zenith has released the new "Defy Skyline." The dial is available in metallic black, blue, and silver, and while the case inherits the unique octagonal form of the early models, it has been updated to a sharp, architectural design.
Inheriting the "Octagonal Form" of Early Models, Updated to a Sharper Design
The latest addition to the "Defy" series, the "Defy Skyline," is a model that fuses unprecedented functionality with a refined and exciting design. The dial is available in three sunburst finishes: black, blue, and silver, and features the Zenith star, connecting four dots, as its symbol.
While possessing an extremely bold silhouette, this piece, which is intrinsically familiar to Zenith's repertoire, is not merely a reproduction of past models. It was created drawing inspiration from the unique octagonal form of early models, including the recently revived "Defy A3642." The angular form inherits the same robustness and durability as its pioneering predecessors, while being updated to a sharper, more architectural design.
The faceted bezel, set within a 41mm stainless steel case with crisp edges, is reminiscent of the bezels on early "Defy" models and has been renewed to a dodecagonal form that functions as an hour marker.
In addition to the central hour and minute hands and the date window at 3 o'clock, a new feature is the 1/10th second hand at 9 o'clock, which completes one rotation every 10 seconds, jumping at regular intervals to create a captivating animation. This exceptional performance is realized by the new in-house automatic El Primero 3620 movement.
This movement, constructed with the same architecture as the El Primero 3600 chronograph that boasts 1/10th second precision, can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back, where the escapement's 5Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour) beat directly drives the 1/10th second hand. It also includes a seconds-stop mechanism for precise time setting, and the automatic winding mechanism with a star-shaped bidirectional rotor efficiently delivers its performance, achieving a power reserve of approximately 60 hours.
The bracelet is chamfered and polished to seamlessly follow the case's contours, with satin-finished edges. Additionally, a blue rubber strap with a safety clasp is included for the blue dial, a black strap for the black dial, and a khaki green strap for the silver dial. These can be easily interchanged without tools using the innovative quick-strap-change mechanism.
The "Defy Skyline" collection embodies Zenith Manufacture's forward-looking approach to watchmaking, with its stylish versatility, exceptional performance, and unmistakably Zenith details.
