Limited Edition of 200: The Big Bang Camo Yohji Yamamoto | HUBLOT

HUBLOT

A Collaboration Model Adorned with an Original Camouflage Motif

EDITOR’S EYE
I believe that watches and fashion should be chosen with the same mindset.
However, I feel they have been perceived as separate entities.
The affinity between Yohji Yamamoto, who embodies timeless style yet is also challenging, and Hublot is particularly strong.

The second collaboration between Hublot and Mr. Yohji Yamamoto, the "Big Bang Camo Yohji Yamamoto," has been released in a limited edition of 200 pieces worldwide. This model embodies a resolute spirit with Yohji Yamamoto's signature textiles and an original camouflage motif.

A Camouflage Watch Expressing the Shared Avant-Garde Spirit of Hublot and Yohji Yamamoto

The "Big Bang Camo Yohji Yamamoto" collaboration watch from Hublot and Yohji Yamamoto has been released in a limited edition of 200 pieces worldwide. Equipped with Hublot's in-house developed and manufactured "Unico" movement, boasting approximately 72 hours of power reserve, this timepiece reflects the shared motto of both brands through Yohji Yamamoto's iconic textiles and a camouflage motif, while exuding a powerful individuality.
The 45mm matte black ceramic case features polished and micro-blasted finishes. The sapphire dial creates a three-dimensional camouflage pattern by layering motifs, with Yohji Yamamoto's signature appearing at the 6 o'clock position.
The rubber strap also features the original camouflage motif, achieved through a unique technique where each pattern is individually cut and assembled before being vulcanized. Hublot first introduced this technology to the watch industry in 2019, showcasing its innovation. A black fabric strap is also included as an interchangeable option.
Yohji Yamamoto's creations, often described as anti-fashion, are designed to provoke questions, a message embedded in every collection. Mr. Yohji Yamamoto, a master of expressing paradox and active conflict, views the camouflage motif as a microcosm of paradox, whether in cases where the present and future clash strongly or blend seamlessly. He revives the message within camouflage, and the value hidden in clothing: a rebellious spirit, strong will, and a pioneering individuality.
Furthermore, this camouflage pattern is reminiscent of his past workwear collections, strongly conveying that the act of choosing clothes signifies one's social role and perception. The use of this textile also expresses respect for artisans and carries a message about the value and preservation of the beautiful activities born from hands and bodies.
Regarding this watch, Mr. Yohji Yamamoto shared his thoughts: "I am strongly drawn to pioneering approaches that express from a perspective slightly outside conventional values. I weave the messages I feel now into each collection. It is a way to make people question what already exists, and that is very important to me."
This "Big Bang Camo Yohji Yamamoto" began its exclusive pre-sale on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at Hublot's directly managed boutiques in Japan (Ginza, Isetan Shinjuku, Osaka, Kyoto), the official online boutique, and The Stage on the first floor of Isetan Shinjuku department store, ahead of its global release.
