A skeleton model that achieves lightness while maintaining strength and water resistance

The new "Panerai Submersible S Brabus e Titanium™" is born from a collaboration with Brabus, a German luxury engineering brand. It is a watch that pursues the ideas, technologies, and possibilities of new materials held by both the Panerai and Brabus brands.
The 47mm case is crafted using e Titanium™, a 100% recycled titanium powder derived from scrap pre-consumer titanium alloys, employing DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) technology. Unlike traditional case manufacturing that carves from a solid block of metal, this process fuses titanium powder layer by layer using a high-power fiber laser, enabling the creation of extremely thin hollow structures. This meticulous process and precise layering of laser paths yield consistent results with virtually undetectable variations. Through this precise 3D printing process, the case achieves a lighter structure and a uniform appearance. Most remarkably, this technology allows for hollow titanium walls as thin as 30 microns (0.03 mm) without compromising strength or water resistance. The entire watch weighs a mere 115 grams, with the case alone weighing 23.6 grams, achieving approximately a 30% weight reduction compared to conventional titanium cases.
This timepiece is equipped with the refined skeleton movement, Caliber P.4001/S, one of the high-end complications. The watch's functionality is further enhanced by eliminating unnecessary materials and focusing on the core components of the movement. An off-center micro-rotor ensures reliable automatic winding, providing a power reserve of up to three days. The GMT function, featuring red and white hour and minute hands and an AM/PM indicator, underscores the watch's functionality and versatility.
In addition to the patent for the DMLS titanium process, this watch incorporates numerous existing patented features. These include the lever-lock crown protector, unidirectional rotating bezel, polarized date display, and zero reset function. Furthermore, the small seconds subdial at 9 o'clock is equipped with a seconds reset function for precise time setting.
The date display is an original Panerai innovation, utilizing polarized technology to show the numerals only when light passes through the aperture, thus concealing the movement. This skeletonized construction significantly reduces the watch's weight, enhancing both functionality and durability. The stylish red accents on the indicators and other elements reflect an aesthetic inspired by the design DNA of Brabus. The watch comes with two straps: a black bi-material strap made of calfskin and rubber, and a fabric strap made from 68% recycled PET from post-consumer waste. Production is limited to 177 pieces, commemorating the founding year of Brabus, 1977, and will be available at Panerai boutiques worldwide.
