Admire the avant-garde linear automatic movement from every angle.
Since its founding in 1955, Corum has consistently pushed boundaries with bold designs and innovative movements, establishing iconic watch collections such as "Coin Watch," "Admiral," and "Bubble" as brand hallmarks.
Among these, the "Golden Bridge," launched in 1980 with the world's first linear gear train movement, stands out with its unique character. Ten years later, in 2011, Corum introduced an automatic version of the "Golden Bridge." Now, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of this automatic model, four new "Golden Bridge Automatic" models have been added for 2021.
These new models feature a generously sized tonneau case and a panoramic sapphire crystal windshield, milled from a solid block of sapphire, that extends from the top to the middle of the case. This design allows for an even more captivating view of the striking linear automatic movement from various perspectives.
Sapphire crystal is a robust material, yet its delicate nature makes it challenging to work with, as it is prone to breakage during manufacturing. To ensure water resistance, Corum's in-house engineers have mastered the process of seamlessly bonding the sapphire crystal to the case.
This new case is crafted from grade 5 titanium, a material chosen for its polishability, ergonomic comfort, and aesthetic appeal, with the crown positioned at 6 o'clock. Four variations are available: a titanium case limited to 50 pieces, a titanium case set with diamonds limited to 25 pieces, a combination case of titanium and 18K gold limited to 150 pieces, and a titanium and 18K gold combination case set with diamonds limited to 100 pieces.
The distinctive exterior of this special timepiece is enhanced by the floating harness system. By linking the meticulously hand-finished indices to the movement, the design achieves both aesthetic beauty and legibility. The movement is the automatic "Caliber CO 313," the same as the original model. It comprises 194 parts, all arranged linearly, including a variable inertia balance for long-term precision, a miniaturized barrel and mainplate, 18K gold bridges, and a platinum linear winding rotor, offering a 40-hour power reserve. The mainplate and bridges of the movement are made of 18K rose gold or 18K white gold across all variations, lending a modern and sophisticated air. The watch is complemented by an alligator leather strap, chosen for its soft texture and comfortable fit on the wrist.
This unique collection, now with an even more beautiful side profile thanks to the new case, also serves as an entry point into the "Golden Bridge Automatic" line. Its more accessible price point is another significant appeal.
