An Elegant Watch Displaying Two Time Zones with a Single Movement
To mark the 90th anniversary of Jaeger-LeCoultre's iconic "Reverso" collection in 2021, the limited edition "Reverso Tribute Duoface Fagliano" is released, featuring a burgundy red dial, an 18K pink gold case, and a two-tone strap combining cordovan leather and canvas.
At the height of the Art Deco era in 1931, the "Reverso" was developed in response to the demands of sportsmen, particularly polo players, who favored a new trend in active lifestyles. This model, a masterful blend of design and functionality with its clean lines and reversible case, became one of the world's most famous watches – a true icon.
The "Reverso" quickly became a favorite among the fashion-conscious, leading to new variations. Within its first year, "Reverso" models with colorful dials were introduced, adding vibrancy to the clean symmetry with their striking contrast against metal cases. This limited edition evokes those early colorful dials, enriching the "Reverso" narrative further.
The original model, developed in 1994, featured two distinct colored dials, with the hand-wound Caliber 854A/2 enabling the display of separate time zones on the front and back. To maintain perfect integration with the case design, the second time zone is adjusted via a small slider positioned at the top of the case, concealed entirely unless the case is removed from its carriage and reversed. The inner surface of the carriage is adorned with a sunray-finished pattern, ensuring beauty is visible even when the watch is flipped.
The front dial adopts the original design, featuring straight bar indexes for the hour markers, with a double index at 12 o'clock. Faceted finishes enhance the Dauphine hands while adding depth to the lacquered burgundy red. A small seconds subdial, encircled by a seconds track, is positioned at 6 o'clock, offering a striking contrast to the linear design of the dial and case.
The design of the back dial is characterized by an interplay of circles and straight lines. A Clous de Paris guilloché pattern contrasts with the shimmering opaline finish of the central time display and the small circles indicating the day/night indication.
The finishing of both dials harmonizes with the warmth of the 18K pink gold case, while the two-tone strap unifies the entire watch. This strap, inspired by canvas and leather boots created for summer polo by Casa Fagliano, the renowned Argentinian maker of polo and riding boots, combines cordovan leather and canvas, with all cuts and stitching done by hand.
The "Reverso Tribute Duoface Fagliano" is produced in a limited edition of 190 pieces worldwide and is available exclusively at boutiques.
