A high-performance chronograph with a modern interpretation of classic design, featuring a "reverse panda" dial.
Carl F. Bucherer unveils its 2021 new release, the 'Heritage BiCompax Annual,' a limited-edition (888 pieces) evolution of the original contrasting version introduced in 2019. This elegant chronograph, featuring a deep black dial with silver sub-dials, boasts high performance, exceptional precision, and an annual calendar. It merges vintage charm with "Lucerne-born" watchmaking expertise, celebrating the design and savoir-faire of the early 1950s.
The history of Carl F. Bucherer began in 1888 when Carl Friedrich Bucherer opened a watch and jewelry store in Lucerne. Over the past 133 years, the company has amassed a wealth of technical achievements and remarkable designs, possessing an archive filled with historical timepieces. This new model was born from the Heritage collection, drawing inspiration from that very archive.
The vintage aesthetic, exemplified by the retro dial design of the original BiCompax, is fused with a contemporary 41mm stainless steel case. Silver-toned chronograph counters and a small seconds sub-dial are symmetrically arranged on the deep black dial, encircled by a tachymeter scale. This configuration results in a "reverse panda" design, a reversal of the color scheme of the original stainless steel model, which featured black sub-dials on a white dial.
Two strap options are available: black calfskin leather with silver stitching, or a sporty rubber strap for enhanced comfort. Both are equipped with a pin buckle folding clasp, further accentuating the dial's design.
In terms of functionality, the watch is powered by the latest automatic CFB 1972 caliber. Modern enhancements over the original include the Big Date display and the annual calendar function, which requires adjustment only once a year on March 1st, accounting for the varying lengths of months. These features are driven by the high-performance automatic movement.
This timepiece is a precursor to further highlights in Carl F. Bucherer's collection, which will be expanded in 2021, and is eagerly anticipated by watch enthusiasts worldwide. Sasha Moeri, CEO of Carl F. Bucherer, stated, "This unique collection is a tribute to over 130 years of 'Lucerne-born' watchmaking expertise. We are also excited to further expand this series of limited editions in the coming months. Watch enthusiasts should definitely keep an eye on the all-digital Watches and Wonders in April of this year."
Further anticipation is building for more exciting timepieces "born in Lucerne."
