A Timepiece Dedicated to a Family Car Revived After a Long Hiatus
The limited edition Carl F. Bucherer "Heritage BiCompax Annual Lucerne" is a watch inspired by the classic car, a Lincoln Cosmopolitan Town Car. This car was owned by Carl Eduard Bucherer, the son of the brand's founder, Carl Friedrich Bucherer. After passing through many hands over the years, it was bought back in 2013 by Jörg G. Bucherer, who meticulously restored it to its former glory. This timepiece features color details inspired by this car, serving as a tribute to the Bucherer family, the magnificent historic automobile, and Carl F. Bucherer's hometown of Lucerne.
The "Heritage BiCompax Annual Lucerne" features a 41mm stainless steel case paired with a stainless steel bracelet equipped with a folding clasp and quick-release system. It can be quickly and easily swapped for the included calfskin strap with a folding clasp, allowing for customization to match the wearer's style for the day.
Visible through the double-domed sapphire crystal, the silver-toned dial features sky-blue subdials for the chronograph's minutes and small seconds, along with a tachymeter scale with a matching blue ring. This blue echoes the color details of the car meticulously restored by Jörg G. Bucherer over many years. A small moon phase window is positioned between 4 and 5 o'clock, and a Big Date window sits directly below the 12 o'clock marker.

While the exterior of this timepiece evokes the great watches of the past, its heart beats with a modern masterpiece: the automatic CFB 1972 caliber movement. The chronograph boasts a 42-hour power reserve, and the annual calendar, which accounts for months with 30 or 31 days, is a practical mechanism that only requires adjustment once a year, on March 1st.
This model is a fitting tribute from the brand to the vintage car that played a significant role in the lives of two generations of the Bucherer family. The charm of its classic design, the chronograph and annual calendar complications, and its eye-catching dial express a brilliant homage to the city of Lucerne.
