Watches & Wonders 2021 New Release. Deep Green Pays Homage to Colorful Models of the 1930s
Jaeger-LeCoultre has added the "Reverso Tribute Small Seconds" to its "Reverso Tribute" series, which adopts the design of the original model manufactured in 1931, reviving the green color used in its early days.

The Reverso was born in 1931. Its design appealed not only to the world of sports, such as polo, for which it was originally conceived, but also to a wider audience, leading to various color variations beyond the original black within its first year. The combination of lacquered dials in colors like chocolate brown, red, burgundy, and blue with metal cases created a stylish and vibrant contrast. At the time, such colorful dials were rare in watchmaking, making them exceptionally modern and distinctive.
While the Reverso has appeared in a variety of dials and case sizes, its original design has been consistently preserved. In 2016, Jaeger-LeCoultre returned to the stylish design principles of the original 1931 model to create the "Reverso Tribute" series. Then, in 2021, the brand unveiled the "Reverso Tribute Small Seconds," reviving the green hue used in the Reverso's early days. The deep tones of the sunray-brushed and lacquered dial, complemented by a leather strap in a matching shade, evoke the lush green of the pine forests surrounding Jaeger-LeCoultre's manufacture in the Vallée de Joux.
The dial incorporates all the signature design elements of the Reverso Tribute, where time is indicated by applied bar indexes rather than numerals. Their faceted form enhances the shape of the Dauphine hands, adding further depth to the lacquered surface. In the lower half of the dial, the circular small seconds track contrasts with the straight lines of the dial and case. When the case is flipped over, a sunray-finished pattern can be seen on the interior of the carriage.
True to the Reverso's heritage, the metal part of the reversible case serves as a canvas for personalization through engraving. Watch owners can choose to keep this personalization hidden or display it by flipping the case. The 8.5mm-thick case houses the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 822/2, a mechanical manual-winding movement specifically designed for the Reverso, featuring small seconds and a 42-hour power reserve.
The strap is crafted from calfskin leather specifically for the Reverso, designed by Casa Fariano, renowned for its handmade boots in the world of polo. In a green hue matching the dial, it accentuates the timeless design of the watch, creating a harmonious aesthetic.
