EDOX, named after the ancient Greek word for "time," is a long-established watch brand founded in Biel, Switzerland, in 1884. Its popularity surged after World War II, and it became known for creating pioneering, high-performance, and rugged timepieces, such as the "Delfin" released in 1961 with a then-revolutionary 200-meter water resistance, followed by the "Hydro-Sub" in 1963 with 500-meter water resistance.

EDOX: A Brand Active in Various Sports

Furthermore, EDOX has cultivated deep ties with the world of sports. The brand has forged partnerships across various sporting disciplines, including serving as the official timekeeper for the "Vuelta a España" cycling race in Aragon, Spain, in 1966, and sponsoring the Spanish Olympic team the following year. In recent years, EDOX has also made its mark in marine sports, becoming the official timing partner for the "Class One World Powerboat Championship," dubbed the "F1 of the Seas," in 2006, and establishing a partnership for official timing with the "Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC)" in 2008.

Last year, commemorating its 125th anniversary, EDOX took a new step by signing a contract as the official timekeeper for the "FIA World Rally Championship (WRC)." The WRC is broadcast worldwide across 228 programs, reaching an audience of approximately 633 million viewers. Its official website attracts 12 million users, highlighting its immense global popularity.

This August, to celebrate the partnership between the two entities, the "WRC" collection of watches will finally be released in Japan. The dynamic world of rally is expressed throughout the collection, with designs reminiscent of speedometers on the dial, three-dimensional rally car wheels on the case back, and rubber straps featuring the same tire pattern as rally tires. The partnership between EDOX and the WRC is scheduled to continue until 2012. Through this new collaboration, EDOX is further enhancing its reputation as a watchmaker by showcasing its precise measurement and high performance.
