The New "Clé de Cartier" Timepiece is Finally Here

Unveiled at SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie) in Geneva this January, Cartier's highly anticipated new watch collection, "Clé de Cartier," is now available. It will be offered at Cartier boutiques and the e-boutique starting Saturday, April 18th.

A Strikingly Simple Form with an Original Crown

Through its enduring spirit of creativity and innovation, Cartier has consistently produced watches of novel design. Following the square "Santos," the rectangular "Tank," and the round "Ballon Bleu de Cartier," the Maison introduces its fourth iconic timepiece this year: the "Clé de Cartier." This marks the first new collection for an icon watch in eight years, since the "Ballon Bleu de Cartier."

The "Clé de Cartier" is characterized by its supremely simple, modern form. The design strips away extraneous ornamentation, pursuing only the essence of watchmaking to achieve an elegance that is both contemporary and timeless.

Most striking is the unique crown, set with a square sapphire. This crown, named "Clé" meaning "key" in French, draws inspiration from the keys used to wind mantel clocks in the past. The act of winding the crown evokes the gesture of locking something with a key.

The collection offers a rich variety of 31 models. Case sizes are available in 31mm, 35mm, and 40mm, with options for both leather straps and bracelets. Designs range from luxurious pieces adorned with diamonds on the dial and case, to models with diamonds only on the bezel, and those that achieve ultimate simplicity. The 35mm and 40mm models are equipped with the new automatic movement "1847 MC," named after Cartier's founding year.

Each element, crafted with the highest level of expertise, comes together to achieve unparalleled perfection. This is the birth of a new, supremely refined timepiece.
