General Participants Challenge Pitching Speed of 156 km/h

In 2015, Hublot welcomed Masahiro Tanaka, currently playing for the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball and capturing global attention, as its ambassador. With a passion for baseball and insatiable curiosity, he also embodies a spirit of charity, organizing baseball clinics for children. Hublot resonates with this commitment and aims to contribute to the bright future of children through charitable activities.

At the charity event "Iron Arm Challenge," held on January 29, 2015, at Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, general participants attempted to match Masahiro Tanaka's pitching speed record of 156 km/h. The top three fastest pitchers from each of the three divisions – "Elementary School and Under," "Women," and "Junior High and Over" – a total of nine finalists, advanced to the finals. A participant from the "Women" division impressively recorded a speed of 139 km/h (including a 39 km/h handicap), clinching the victory.

Target Challenge

The winner received a Hublot "Classic Fusion Chronograph," the runner-up received a Hublot alarm clock, and the top three finishers, including the winner and runner-up, were presented with signed gloves from Tanaka. Additionally, a kindergarten boy who exclaimed, "I want to be better than Ma-kun!" during the preliminary round was awarded an MVP prize of a signed glove from Tanaka.

Following the finals, Masahiro Tanaka participated in the "Target Challenge," throwing at nine targets displaying monetary values. Amidst the cheers of approximately 1,000 spectators, he successfully hit seven targets, including the most challenging 1 million yen target with a 10 cm diameter, earning a total of 2.9 million yen. Furthermore, Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe, trying baseball for the first time, hit two 250,000 yen targets, winning 500,000 yen.

Hublot announced a total donation of 3,967,100 yen, comprising the 3.4 million yen earned from the "Target Challenge" and 567,100 yen calculated from the participants' speeds in the "Pitching Speed Challenge" (speed x 100 yen). This sum will be donated to "Living Dreams," an NPO that supports 21st-century learning methods and new lifestyles for children's facilities in Japan.
