Limited Edition and Special Edition Reissues of King Seiko's Iconic "KSK" Model | SEIKO
SEIKO
Two Models Released, Inheriting the "KSK" Design and Embodying "The Newest Classic"
Seiko Watch Corporation has announced two models from the revived King Seiko line: the "Limited Edition Reissue of the KSK Design" and the "Seiko Boutique Special Edition." Both are reissues of the second-generation King Seiko, commonly known as "KSK," which debuted in 1965.
A Limited Edition of 1,700 Pieces, Faithfully Reproducing the Original with an Elegant Touch
King Seiko, which debuted in 1961 and led the domestic luxury watch market at the time, has been revived this year.
The representative model of King Seiko is the second-generation King Seiko, born in 1965 and known as "KSK." Unlike the first generation, it featured water resistance and a hacking second mechanism for precise time setting, earning high praise for its practical advancements. Its design also established King Seiko's originality with its uncluttered dial layout, sharp case styling emphasizing its edges, and box-shaped glass.
Two models that inherit the "KSK" design and embody "The Newest Classic" are now being released.
The "Limited Edition Reissue of the KSK Design," limited to 1,700 pieces worldwide and 700 in Japan, faithfully reproduces the "KSK" features down to the finest details, while adding an elegant design not found on the original stainless steel model. The dial uses champagne silver, and the multi-faceted indices and sharp hands are accented with yellow gold for a luxurious feel. The box-shaped sapphire crystal, developed to replicate the silhouette of the acrylic glass of the era with a wider bezel, features an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface, ensuring high visibility from any angle.
The case back features a brand mark inspired by the King Seiko shield, accented with a yellow gold-colored medallion. While the original movement was hand-wound, this model is equipped with the ultra-thin automatic Caliber 6L35, achieving a case thickness of 11.4mm, just 0.5mm thicker than the original.
The "Seiko Boutique Special Edition," sold at Seiko Boutiques worldwide, is inspired by the fact that King Seiko was born at a Seiko mechanical watch factory near Kameido Tenjin Shrine in Tokyo, known for the beauty of its wisteria trellises. The purple dial features a sunburst finish and a delicate gradation, evoking the wisteria waves of Kameido Tenjin Shrine, which ripple like waves in the wind.
This model also inherits the "KSK" design, with three-dimensional multi-faceted indices and robust, prominent hands. Notably, the sparkle of the lighthouse cut on the top surface of the 12 o'clock index enhances the model's unique character.
The Caliber 6R31 automatic movement, by omitting the date function, accentuates the dial's refined beauty, similar to the original "KSK." It combines a compact automatic mechanism with a long power reserve of approximately 70 hours. Additionally, the bracelet includes a flat, multi-row bracelet that pays homage to the 1960s King Seiko, as well as a light gray calf leather strap with purple stitching, allowing for enjoyment of its varied expressions.
