The balance wheel and bridge orbit the dial like satellites!
This new complication model houses the unique "Caliber 9451 MC Astrotourbillon" movement, developed over five years by Cartier's "Manufacture" in La Chaux-de-Fonds, within the Rotonde de Cartier case. While the tourbillon cage rotates around the center of the movement (the dial), the balance wheel's and escapement wheel's axes are offset from the center and aligned in a straight line. As the balance wheel and its bridge operate, they complete one rotation per minute around the periphery of the dial, functioning as the seconds hand, much like satellites orbiting a star. The refined aesthetic, characteristic of Cartier, is also striking.
Hand-wound, pink gold case x alligator strap, 47mm diameter, transparent case back, water-resistant for daily life, ¥12,516,000 (estimated retail price), scheduled for June release.
