A Finish Unlike the Standard Model: The Longines Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition
Longines introduces the "Longines Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition," a Grade 5 titanium model of the "Longines Pilot Majetek," which garnered significant attention last year as a revival of the historic 1935 aviation watch. Limited to 1935 pieces worldwide, commemorating its birth year.
A More Chic and Robust Finish with Titanium
“
Longines Pilot Majetek” is a revival of the "Pilot Majetek" from 1935, a model that marked the Maison's history. Originally designed for aviators, this tool watch captivated many with its high reliability, toughness, and accuracy. Nearly 90 years later, in 2023, it has been reborn with updated technical and ergonomic features.
The new "Longines Pilot Majetek Pioneer Edition" is a special model crafted from Grade 5 titanium, an alloy lighter and stronger than stainless steel. Its unique, unified monochrome aesthetic exudes an unparalleled presence.
The case features a "bi-directional rotating fluted bezel" and a "movable triangular marker (start time indicator)" that signify its heritage as an aviation watch. In the 1935 model, the crystal of the windshield, to which the bezel and marker were attached, rotated as one. In the current model, the "movable triangular marker" is positioned between the fixed sapphire crystal and the dial, enhancing the case's water resistance. Additionally, a commemorative plate engraved with "1935" is placed at the 9 o'clock position on the exterior of the case, highlighting details that pay homage to tradition.
The grained matte black dial features grey Arabic numerals and baton hands with Super-LumiNova® for a bluish glow, ensuring high legibility. A classic railway-style minute track adds a touch of accent. A large sub-seconds dial is positioned at 6 o'clock, capturing the functional characteristics of a historic pilot's watch along with the fluted bezel.
The movement is the Longines Exclusive Caliber L893.6, equipped with a silicon balance spring and innovative components, achieving magnetic resistance far exceeding the conditions of the ISO 674 standard. It also boasts a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. Certified as a COSC chronometer by an independent inspection body, not just the movement but the entire watch is validated, ensuring performance even in environments surrounded by digital devices.
The strap is a highly durable and lightweight black technical fabric strap with a Grade 5 titanium tang buckle. Unified in monochrome, it presents a chic impression in harmony with the case and dial.
Released in a limited edition of 1935 pieces worldwide, sales in Japan will end once the domestic allocation is exhausted. The special model is meticulously presented in a specially designed black heritage box.
