A new model from the <Seiko Presage> collection, embodying Japanese aesthetics, will be available from Friday, June 10, 2022. It features an Arita porcelain dial with a lustrous, three-dimensional sculpted form.

The "<Seiko Presage> Craftsmanship Series Arita Porcelain Dial Model" is a new release featuring a white porcelain dial crafted with the artistry of Arita ware, Japan's first porcelain.

The three-dimensional white porcelain dial, with its gentle curves, expresses subtle undulations within a mere millimeter of thickness. This was achieved through the pursuit of traditional Arita ware casting techniques, pushing the limits of thinness, under the supervision of Hiroyuki Hashiguchi, a ceramic artist belonging to the 190-year-old "Shin-Yo" kiln.

The glaze finish gives the porcelain its characteristic three-dimensional feel, creating a lustrous sheen and soft shadows. Furthermore, blue indices and hands add color to the translucent pure white porcelain dial, enhancing its beauty.

Seiko's unique Arita porcelain dial was developed over a long period of research and development to not only express the charm of lustrous porcelain but also to ensure durability as a wristwatch. This dial, a fusion of Japanese tradition and technology, uses a highly strong porcelain material with more than four times the strength of conventional materials. It is then cast using ultra-precise molds, fired at a high temperature of 1300°C, followed by glazing and multiple firing processes, completing a highly challenging procedure.

This timepiece is equipped with the Caliber 6R31, which highlights the dial's refined beauty. Its compact automatic movement and approximately 70-hour power reserve mean that if you fully wind the mainspring on a Friday evening, it will still be running on Monday morning, even if unworn.
