Panerai has released the "Luminor Chrono Monopulsante GMT Blu Notte," a new limited edition of 200 pieces for 2021. This distinctive model merges the brand's iconic Luminor design with a unique approach to the complex chronograph mechanism, embodying both a sporting spirit and innate elegance.

Panerai established its expertise in precision and performance with the Mare Nostrum prototype, designed for Italian naval deck officers in 1943. In the 21st century, this technical prowess has been carried forward to the brand's research and development division in Neuchâtel, the legendary Laboratorio di Idee (Workshop of Ideas), a hub of innovation and avant-garde imagination, where they continue to develop a series of efficient, high-performance proprietary new calibers.

This new release showcases Panerai's sophisticated mechanical expertise. The P.2004 caliber is a hand-wound mechanical movement paying homage to Panerai Manufacture's first fully in-house developed and produced chronograph caliber. It features a single-pusher column-wheel chronograph that integrates start, stop, and reset functions into one button, along with a GMT function allowing simultaneous display of home and local times.

Expressing Italian design and the innovation of Laboratorio di Idee is the sporty matte black ceramic case. Crafted from zirconium oxide with a sandblasted finish, it not only achieves a remarkably uniform matte appearance but also boasts high hardness and exceptional scratch resistance.

The chronograph pushers are positioned on the left, creating a balance with the crown protector on the right and accentuating the iconic silhouette of the Luminor collection. The midnight blue dial features a classic sandwich structure with a satin soleil finish. The Arabic numerals and indices are treated with white Super-LumiNova® that glows green, lending a powerful presence.

The watch comes pre-assembled with a deep blue calfskin strap featuring ecru stitching and a trapezoidal pin buckle in black DLC-coated titanium. However, using the included strap-changing tool and screwdriver for buckle removal, it can be easily swapped for the spare rubber strap. Both straps are deep blue, offering a relaxed yet elegant style for any occasion.
