CALIBRE DE CARTIER DIVER WATCH

Cartier's First Divers Model to Launch in Japan Soon

From January 20th to 24th, the SIHH (Salon International Haute Horlogerie, commonly known as the Geneva Watch Show) was held in Geneva, Switzerland. It was here that Cartier unveiled the "Calibre de Cartier Diver Watch."

The "Calibre de Cartier Watch" is a watch collection for men launched by Cartier at the 2010 SIHH, featuring the self-developed and manufactured automatic movement "Cal.1904-PS MC." Calibre means "caliber," and this collection symbolizes Cartier's status as a manufacture. It combines the robustness required of men's watches with the elegance crafted by the maison, notably showcasing a unique aesthetic with the bold Roman numerals at the 12 o'clock position.

The "1904" in the caliber refers to the year Louis Cartier created a wristwatch with a leather strap for his friend, the aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. Inscribing such a special year on a watch adds to the romance of men's timepieces.
Since its debut, the Calibre de Cartier Watch quickly gained popularity. In 2013, the "Calibre de Cartier Chronograph" was added, and this year, the "Calibre de Cartier Diver Watch" joins the lineup, further enriching the collection.

As the name "Diver" suggests, the model's defining characteristic is its status as a professional diver's watch. It meets the international standard ISO6425 (International Organization for Standardization) and is equipped with 300m water resistance, a unidirectional rotating bezel, and Super-LumiNova coated indicators. Notably, the bezel features a 120-notch structure (40 teeth and three points) allowing for highly accurate measurements in 30-second increments. The deliberate audible click when rotated also reflects a consideration for safety. Furthermore, despite being a high-performance diver's watch, its thickness is only 11mm, ensuring comfortable wear. This is a significant appeal.

This model garnered much attention at the SIHH in January, with anticipation building for its delivery start date. The rubber strap version is scheduled for delivery in the Japanese market in May. Available in stainless steel, two-tone, and pink gold, the stainless steel model with a rubber strap is priced at 810,000 yen (excluding tax). Given the popularity of previous collections, this model is also expected to be a great success.
