Functionality Through Minimalist and Delicate Design
Ole Mathiesen was founded in Copenhagen in 1845 by watchmakers Carl Mathiesen and J.P. Christensen. From its inception, it served as a "Purveyor to the Royal Danish Court," presenting pocket watches to King Frederick VII and Countess Danner.
In 1919, Axel O. Mathiesen took over the company and, in collaboration with Swiss watch companies, began manufacturing its first luxury wristwatches. In 1962, Axel's son, Ole Mathiesen, a certified Swiss watch master, succeeded him. It was at this time that the original model of the current wristwatch was released.
Subsequently, Ole's son, Christian, took the helm, and the brand now operates in 10 countries worldwide, including Denmark. Its high quality and beautiful design have garnered attention and are featured in the museum shop of The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and the MoMA Design Store in Japan.
Even now, more than 50 years after its debut, the classic and simple design is loved across generations, revealing its true value with each passing year.
By slightly bending the tip of the hands, the thickness has been successfully reduced to 5mm. The glass and dial have a subtle curve, presenting an elegant and soft appearance.
Each piece is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans.
By repeatedly layering ink, a chromatic and three-dimensional difference is created between the hour markers and the dial, allowing the time to be recognized even from a distance.
It quietly elevates any attire, from daily wear to business occasions.

The lineup includes the "1962 Classic Series," "1919 Heritage Series," "Royal Marine," and "OMS (Sports Series)."
The "1962 Classic Series," as the name suggests, was designed in 1962. It is available in three sizes: 35mm, 33mm, and 28mm. The 35mm and 28mm models are Japan-exclusive and feature Roman numerals. Cordovan leather is used for the straps.
The "1919 Heritage Series" was created in 2014 to commemorate the brand's 95th anniversary. This series includes diver's models and watches that are relatively larger within the lineup.
The "Royal Marine" was created in 2012 to celebrate the awarding of the "Purveyor to the Royal Danish Court" title. It is available in two sizes, a voluminous 37mm and 30mm.
The "OMS (Sports Series)" is designed for active pursuits, with a robust case that inspires confidence. It features 12 ATM water resistance and a date display, offering excellent utility.
Ole Mathiesen's simple and timeless aesthetic embodies a commitment to craftsmanship and the pursuit of watchmaking functionality.
