An Inviting Space Adorned with Maritime Details
Panerai's flagship store in Japan has relocated from 7-chome to 6-chome on Namiki-dori in Ginza. The new store design was handled by architect and designer Patricia Urquiola. Born in Oviedo, Spain, she is a rising architect who has received numerous awards, including the Order of Isabella the Catholic from the King of Spain.
The newly renovated Ginza boutique is comprised of two floors. The first floor is a showroom featuring a collection that will excite watch collectors, boasting Japan's largest selection. The second floor offers after-sales services, functioning as a space for repairs and maintenance.
The store's ambiance has been reinterpreted by Urquiola, reflecting the brand's DNA, such as the timeless design and high technology of Panerai watches, in its interior.
The brand's origins in Florence, Italy, and its creation for marine use are expressed through the use of materials like wood, bronze, and glass, reminiscent of vintage yachts.
As with Panerai boutiques worldwide, a wall clock featuring an enlarged version of Panerai's iconic dial has been installed.
The inviting space, which feels both modern and imbued with a sense of the past and future, has been crafted into a special place where one can experience the Maison's world.
Takashi Sorimachi Appointed as Panerai Ambassador
The Ginza boutique, which fully embodies Panerai's world, now welcomes actor Takashi Sorimachi as its ambassador, a true representative of the brand. Sorimachi has long been a fan of Panerai, resonating with the brand's passion for watchmaking and the value backed by its long history.
Regarding his appointment, he commented, "Panerai is a timeless brand that creates superb timepieces with sophisticated design and innovative technology. While its core elements of toughness, simplicity, functionality, and precision remain unwavering, it continues to evolve. This resonates with my own career and way of life."
Jean-Marc Pontroué, CEO of Panerai, stated, "Takashi Sorimachi is a great actor. Elegant and versatile, he perfectly embodies the Panerai identity. His long and successful career is a testament to his talent, driven by dedication and passion for his work. We are honored to have him as our ambassador in Japan."
In a released video, Sorimachi, sharing the same spirit as Panerai, discusses his philosophy. We highly recommend checking it out.
