A New Version Symbolizing the Connection Between Oris and "World Cleanup Day"
The world is currently grappling with the issue of plastic pollution. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) estimates that 8 million tons of plastic enter the oceans each year, posing a significant threat to marine ecosystems.
On September 14th and 15th, 2018, Oris participated in "World Cleanup Day 2018" as part of its commitment to raising awareness and taking action on sustainability. A thousand employees from Oris headquarters and 15 of its global subsidiaries gathered to remove litter from towns and coastlines. Oris has a history of partnering with many non-profit organizations dedicated to ocean conservation and has also been involved in recycling plastic waste before it enters the environment.
To coincide with this participation in "World Cleanup Day 2018," a new version of the "Divers Sixty-Five" has been released, equipped with a strap made from recycled plastic. The strap material is r-Radyarn®, a recycled polymer that can be manufactured using 50% less energy than producing new materials.
"By using recycled materials, we can also reduce the consumption of non-renewable energy used in the production of plastics and PET," stated Oris Chairman Ulrich W. Herzog. He further added regarding Oris's future releases, "Our primary goal moving forward is to operate in a socially and ecologically responsible manner. This includes creating products with sustainable materials. We will continue these efforts. We are pleased to contribute to the global movement for improvement."
