Intricate details create depth and beauty.

Since its inception in 1960, GRAND SEIKO has pursued the essence of a wristwatch, focusing on high precision, legibility, ease of use, and durability.

Now, a new "Spring Drive 8 Days" model is introduced, housing the Caliber 9R01 movement—which maximizes the potential of Grand Seiko's unique Spring Drive system—within an 18k pink gold case.

Development and manufacturing were handled by the "Micro Artist Studio," a specialist workshop for high-end watches. Established in 2000 within the Shiojiri facility of Seiko Epson Corporation, its purpose is to preserve watchmaking skills. The studio boasts ten "Contemporary Masters Craftsmen," including recipients of the Gold Medal at the WorldSkills Competition and the Medal with Yellow Ribbon, who apply their exceptional expertise to create timepieces.

The new 18k pink gold case is formed through cold forging under several tons of pressure to increase density, followed by special polishing. This achieves both a smoother surface and sharper edges than conventional precious metal cases.

The Caliber 9R01 movement, with three barrels arranged in series, enables a power reserve of approximately 8 days (192 hours). This efficient use of limited space within the movement also allows for a case diameter of 43mm, designed for comfortable wear.

While appearing simple at first glance, the design is rich in detail. It features a rare, integrated bridge structure. Furthermore, its thickness is approximately three times that of other Spring Drive models. These elements significantly enhance the precision of the bridge's machining, not only ensuring secure component support but also preventing the bridge from deforming or shifting in the event of an impact, such as from a fall.

The bridge's outline is mirror-finished by hand by watchmakers, evoking the silhouette of Mt. Fuji. The tempered blue screws and rubies are likened to the lights of the city of Suwa. The entire surface is hand-finished with a hairline polish, designed to make the mirror-finished areas and the screws stand out.

The dial employs a multi-layered combination of plating and painting to ensure high legibility while achieving a beautiful, deep appearance. Countless sparkling particles emanate from the depths of the jet-black dial, reminiscent of a star-filled night sky. The hands are Grand Seiko's signature faceted, broad hands.
