To celebrate the launch of the new fourth model in the RANGE ROVER family, the "RANGE ROVER VELAR," LAND ROVER has announced the "Zenith Chronomaster El Primero Range Rover Velar Special Edition," the second collaboration with Zenith.

In 1969, the British car manufacturer Rover embarked on a project to define a new category of vehicle that combined luxury with all-terrain capability, giving birth to the "RANGE ROVER" as a premium SUV. Before its official release in 1970, the development engineers referred to the 26 "RANGE ROVER" prototypes as "VELAR," derived from the Latin word "velare," meaning "to veil."

Also in 1969, Zenith unveiled the first automatic chronograph caliber in watchmaking history, naming it "El Primero," meaning "the first." With its high-beat escapement, it is a highly accurate chronograph capable of measuring time to the nearest tenth of a second.

Nearly half a century later, the spirit of innovation that runs through the DNA of both brands has given birth to the mid-size luxury SUV, the new "RANGE ROVER VELAR," and the "Zenith Chronomaster El Primero Range Rover Velar Special Edition," which were unveiled together at the Geneva Motor Show.



The "Zenith Chronomaster El Primero Range Rover Velar Special Edition" features a ceramized aluminum case and a high-beat movement oscillating at 36,000 vibrations per hour. This model distills the lightweight, high-performance, elegant, and simple qualities of the "RANGE ROVER VELAR," a new member of the RANGE ROVER family, into a visually uncluttered design. Design highlights include a 42mm case with a contrasting varnished copper finish and a matte-finished slate grey dial.

Turning the watch over, one can see the "RANGE ROVER" and "VELAR" names engraved on the rotor and case back, visible through the transparent case back. The strap is made of a newly co-developed, highly durable rubber, coated with calfskin featuring a diamond-pattern perforation. This calfskin is the same high-quality Scottish leather used in the interior of the "RANGE ROVER," and the clasp is a DLC-coated titanium triple-folding buckle.
