Girard-Perregaux is a watch brand with deep ties to Japan, having visited approximately 150 years ago during Japan's Bakumatsu period. François Perregaux, one of the company's founders, came to Yokohama and widely introduced Swiss watchmaking culture to Japan. Girard-Perregaux will be holding the "Girard-Perregaux Fair" this November at the Daimaru Osaka Shinsaibashi store.

This year, 2010, sees the expansion of the "Girard-Perregaux 1966" series, which has rapidly become one of the company's main collections since its announcement four years ago. At the fair, numerous "Girard-Perregaux 1966" models will be presented, including the "Girard-Perregaux 1966Chronograph" which evokes the round chronographs of the 1950s equipped with the first column-wheel chronograph, and the "Girard-Perregaux 1966 Perpetual Calendar," another of its flagship models, making their Japanese debut.

Another unmissable timepiece at this fair is the revival model of the "Three Gold BridgesTourbillon" developed by Constant Girard in the 1860s. This tourbillon, which won gold medals at the Paris Expositions of 1867 and 1889, saw 20 pocket watch revivals in 1982 to honor Girard's achievement. This year marks its grand return after 28 years. It also showcases Girard-Perregaux's cutting-edge technology, such as the newly developed detent escapement.
