Developing a Model That Redefines the Concept of Watches

A New Concept: The Security Watch

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Bulgari Roma, which spurred Bulgari's serious engagement in watchmaking. A special commemorative model has been released to celebrate this milestone. Additionally, a surprising concept for the "Diagono" sports watch collection was unveiled. With its potential to transform future lifestyles beyond mere smartphone integration, the initiative garnered significant attention.

Technological Innovation Beyond Watchmaking

While Bulgari's watchmaking history can be traced back to the 1920s, its dedicated efforts began in 1975. The Bulgari Roma, a precursor to the iconic "Bulgari Bulgari" known for its bold bezel design, was born in 1975.

Announced at Baselworld was not only the anniversary model of the Bulgari Roma, but also a concept watch from Bulgari, the watchmaker, poised to revolutionize the relationship between watches and daily life.

The new "Diagono" collection incorporates a silicon chip, enabling it to function as an electronic passport. Utilizing NFC technology, it interfaces with smartphone applications for various electronic authentications. In essence, by simply carrying this "Diagono" concept model and a smartphone, users can make credit card payments, open doors and car doors, and access transportation tickets.

Pioneering a New Style of Watch and Future Living
Diagono Magnesium and its Concept Model

The "Diagono" itself is Bulgari's sports watch collection, blending elegance with an active spirit. Launched in 1988, it captivated many with its innovative use of materials like aluminum alloy. For this concept model, Bulgari combined magnesium—a lightweight yet incredibly strong metal—with "PEEK," a polymer that revolutionized the aerospace industry, and ceramic, to create the "Diagono Magnesium."

The concept watch is also based on this "Diagono Magnesium," with the only visual difference being the presence or absence of a circle around the 'e' in the model name logo. Its perfectly proportioned, endlessly elegant form embodies the concept watch's miraculous styling: "100% Swiss Made, 100% Security, 100% Luxury, 0% Gadget."

A Watch That Forms the Foundation of 40 Years of Watchmaking

The "Bulgari Roma 40th Anniversary" pays tribute to the "Bulgari Roma" that debuted in 1975. Upon its initial release in '75, both mechanical and digital display models featured dials inspired by ancient Roman gold coins, with the brand name and location boldly engraved on the bezel as limited editions. This watch served as the origin for the "Bulgari Bulgari," which introduced a daring bezel design, establishing the foundation for Bulgari as a watch brand.

The "Bulgari Roma Finissimo" for this occasion is equipped with the Caliber Finissimo, an automatic movement representing the pinnacle of today's technology. The cylindrical case, maintaining perfect proportions, is beautifully sculpted, and the bezel, engraved with the "Bulgari Roma" name, is flawlessly finished, making it a model that commemorates 40 years of exceptional watchmaking.

The Pinnacle of Complications, with a Beautiful Tone
Bulgari Carillon Tourbillon

This model features a tourbillon of exquisite precision at 6 o'clock, along with a minute repeater mechanism that chimes the time. Activating the slide lever on the left side of the case causes three hammers to strike, sounding the hours and minutes in sequence. The resonance and spread of the sound have been meticulously considered, with adjustments made to the materials and placement of parts. The gongs for striking the hours are also crafted with perfect precision by hand.

The distinctive vertical oval gold case, appearing as if its sides have been cut away, presents a highly striking form, exuding a vintage charm befitting an ultimate complication timepiece.
