Royal Oak Offshore Automatic Tourbillon Chronograph
Like a Hand-Wound Watch
This timepiece features a tourbillon, which houses the escapement that governs the watch's accuracy within a rotating carriage, layered with a chronograph and an innovative modern automatic winding mechanism. The Cal. 2897, visible through the sapphire caseback, lacks the conventional rotating rotor of typical automatic movements.
It employs a special winding system using a peripheral rotor, a ring-shaped component that encircles the movement's periphery. This design not only allows for an unobstructed view of the chronograph's intricate mechanics but also enables observation of the winding gears through a small aperture at the 1 o'clock position on the dial. It's a complication designed for the ultimate enjoyment of mechanical operation, crafted with Audemars Piguet's signature robust forged carbon for the case middle, making it a remarkably durable and functional masterpiece.

Pursuing the Ultimate Tone for Repeaters
In recent years, there has been a growing trend among "chiming" watches, such as minute repeaters, to focus on the aesthetic quality of their sound.
This new model takes that pursuit to an extraordinary level. Audemars Piguet established a dedicated project team to recreate the tone of a 1924 minute repeater, developed and manufactured in-house. This endeavor has resulted in an innovation that surpasses the original sound; during demonstrations, the clear, beautiful tones could be heard even from several meters away. The secret lies in the structural design, which meticulously considers sound transmission, and the governor that regulates the mechanism's speed.
This supreme minute repeater, completed after eight years of development, is a grand complication that also incorporates a tourbillon and chronograph, resulting in a timepiece that will undoubtedly captivate enthusiasts.

Above all, its exterior is utterly mesmerizing. Numerous gently pyramidal, three-dimensional elements are arranged in succession, each featuring countless micro-perforations set with brilliant-cut diamonds. The total number is an astonishing 8,148!
This design, inspired by "snow," evokes the snowy mountain scenery of Audemars Piguet's home in the Vallée de Joux, presented as an avant-garde piece on the wrist. The hidden watch dial emerges when a portion is slid open, and it too is densely paved with diamonds. It is a design befitting the "Punk" in its model name, executed with uncompromising attention to detail.
