World's Thinnest Automatic, Case Thickness of 5.25mm Achieved

Text by Yasuto Shibuya

The ultra-thin automatic movement "Caliber 120P," developed in 1960, remains active today. Succeeding it, a new men's dress watch has arrived, powered by the completely redesigned ultra-thin automatic movement "Caliber 1208P." The movement, featuring a winding mechanism with a micro-rotor made of 22K gold, measures a mere 2.35mm in thickness for the small seconds complication, just 0.5mm thicker than the 12P. This is a result of prioritizing durability, and with the case included, it achieves a world-leading 5.25mm thickness for a commercially available model. The Altiplano's signature three-layer dial offers a立体 (three-dimensional) face despite its slim profile, and its timeless, simple design is equally appealing. The "Caliber 1200P" found in the anniversary model, announced concurrently with the same basic specifications but without a small seconds subdial and featuring a platinum micro-rotor, is also noteworthy.

Automatic, white gold case, leather strap, 43mm diameter, sapphire crystal case back, ¥2,163,000, scheduled for June release
