The Piaget Polo '79 Two-Tone' presents true elegance beyond 'luxe sport'.
PIAGET
Shaboozey, who received his first Grammy Award on February 1, 2026, at the Grammy Premiere Ceremony, wore the "Piaget Polo 79 Two-Tone" on his wrist. The innovative artist, who fuses country and hip-hop, has set a new trend with this timepiece, worn for both the red carpet and his acceptance speech. In an era dominated by stainless steel luxury sports watches, or "luxe sport," the overwhelming preciousness of all-gold offers watch enthusiasts a new option.

An artist who transcends musical boundaries chooses true luxury
Shaboozey is an artist gaining attention for his musicality that extends far beyond the traditional boundaries of country music. He recently won his first career Grammy for "Amen," a duet with Jelly Roll, in the category of Best Country Duo/Group Performance. His innovative approach, blending country with elements of hip-hop and R&B, is recognized not merely as a musical experiment but as a bold step into new realms of expression.
An artist's willingness to cross boundaries in music is reflected in their lifestyle choices. On the grand stage of the Grammy Awards, his selection was the "Piaget Polo 79 Two-Tone." This choice speaks to a sensibility that discerns timeless value rather than simply following trends. Those with a keen sense for the next generation are drawn to things of intrinsic worth, not superficial fads. The timepiece gracing Shaboozey's wrist is precisely the symbol of this new trend.
"Time should be measured in gold"—An era beyond luxe sport, forged by all-gold
Piaget holds the unwavering philosophy that "time should be measured in gold" (Le temps Piaget ne se mesure qu'en Or). This conviction has been deeply embedded in the Maison's DNA since 1957, driving all its creative endeavors. When the original Piaget Polo debuted in 1979, it pioneered an entirely new category: the elegant, full-gold sports watch.
Yves Piaget, an avid equestrian, infused his passion for polo and a life of glamour into this watch. A timepiece to be worn with casual ease at the Palm Beach Polo Club or Chez Regine in New York—he described it as "a bracelet watch and a watch bracelet." Its versatility, maintaining elegance in every setting from sports to social events, was the value embodied by the Piaget Polo.
Today, stainless steel luxury sports watches dominate the market. Their balance of practicality and sophistication has captivated many enthusiasts. However, an all-gold construction offers a preciousness on an entirely different level. It possesses a substance and presence that stainless steel can never replicate. The gold, melted in Piaget's in-house foundry in Geneva, becomes a canvas for Piaget's extraordinary creativity.
In 1969, Piaget perfectly merged watchmaking and high jewelry with its avant-garde "21st Century" collection of gold jewelry watches, positioned between cuff watches and swinging sautoirs. For Piaget, gold is the only material capable of expressing artistry in watchmaking. This is not merely a preference for a material but a conviction in the aesthetic that the Maison has upheld since its founding. Regardless of stainless steel's superior practicality, the brilliance, texture, and enduring value of gold make it the sole material for completing a watch as a work of art. The "Piaget Polo 79 Two-Tone" is the ultimate precious watch, harmonizing the functionality of a sports watch with the beauty of high jewelry.
A dialogue of light, woven by two golds
The original Piaget Polo offered a two-tone configuration from its debut in 1979. This combination, favored by stylish individuals seeking a unique blend of elegance and everyday wearability, is rarely seen today. Forty-five years after its initial release, the original Piaget Polo was revived in 2024 as the Piaget Polo 79 to commemorate the Maison's 150th anniversary. It marked its triumphant return in brilliant yellow gold, earning the "Iconic Watch" prize at the GPHG. In 2025, a refined white gold version followed, enhancing its versatility. Now, in 2026, the announcement of the two-tone model completes the trilogy.
The new "Piaget Polo 79 Two-Tone" pays homage to the original configuration presented in 1979. The brushed white gold case and integrated bracelet are dramatically accented by polished yellow gold gadroon motifs. The careful interplay of the two precious metals creates visual depth and texture while maintaining the Piaget Polo's signature style. This philosophy is seamlessly integrated into the solid gold dial, where brushed yellow gold hands add a refined touch of color.
At first glance, this two-tone configuration might evoke stainless steel. However, the quality of its radiance is entirely different. The warm luster of white gold is distinct from the cold, hard gleam of stainless steel. Combined with the polished finish of yellow gold, it creates a substantial brilliance unique to precious metals. The dialogue between the two golds, shifting with the light, achieves a level of beauty unattainable with a combination of stainless steel and yellow gold.
The essence of ultra-thin technology supporting elegance
The "Piaget Polo 79 Two-Tone" is powered by the Calibre 1200P1, an in-house ultra-thin automatic movement with a micro-rotor, measuring a mere 2.35mm in thickness. This technical feat allows the watch to maintain its elegantly sleek profile on the wrist. This graceful silhouette, emblematic of Piaget's approach to sporty elegance, is made possible by its ultra-thin technology.
This movement represents the latest evolution in the distinguished legacy of ultra-thin watchmaking—expertise that has set Piaget's manufacture apart for generations. Embracing its pioneering spirit, Piaget began designing and producing ultra-thin movements in the late 1950s. These movements, the foundation of the Maison's iconic "Altiplano," became a hallmark of Piaget and left an indelible mark on the world of horology. The Calibre 1200P1 is the latest generation in this lineage.
Combined with the 38mm case and fully integrated bracelet design, this creates an exceptionally comfortable watch that fits elegantly on various wrist sizes and for any occasion. While a sports watch, it possesses the slim profile of a dress watch that tucks neatly under a cuff.
In essence, the substantial feel of gold is balanced exquisitely with the lightness of the slim case. This thoughtful approach demonstrates Piaget's consistent ability to create watches that capture the essence of the times while maintaining its unmistakable identity. True versatility, suitable for daily wear to formal events—this is what the fusion of ultra-thin technology and beauty achieves.
