Expressing the World of 16th-Century Italian Improvisational Theater Through Sound and Movement

Commedia dell'arte, which emerged in the late 16th century, breaking the conventions of the theatrical world at the time, gained popularity not only in Italy but across Europe with its humorous and dynamic performances, and its delightful costumes and music.

BVLGARI has now unveiled the "BVLGARI GERALD GENTA COMMEDIA DELL'ARTE," a "wearable work of art" that embodies this world through BVLGARI's renowned complex mechanisms—a minute repeater, jumping hour, and retrograde display—along with artistic dials crafted using engraving and exquisite miniature painting.



The time can be read through the melodious chime of the minute repeater mechanism, inspired by cathedral bells, along with the jumping hour disk in the window at 6 o'clock and the retrograde display on the character's right hand. An automaton mechanism that moves the figures, foreground, and background delights the viewer's eye. There are three types of dial designs in total. Each is a limited production of 8 pieces.
