SEIKO
Including three limited-edition models for the 50th Anniversary of Quartz Astron
Ten new models in the <Seiko Astron> collection are released
Seiko Astron, born as the world's first GPS solar watch, inherits its name from the Quartz Astron, the first quartz watch manufactured by Seiko in 1969. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Quartz Astron, a total of 10 models are newly added to the Seiko Astron line: two Revolution Line 50th Anniversary models, four Revolution Line regular models, one 5X Series 50th Anniversary model, and three 5X Series regular models.

A new lineup carrying on the history of Astron, a shining star in watchmaking history
<Seiko Astron> is the world's first GPS solar watch, launched in September 2012. In 2014, the "8X Series" was announced, featuring dramatic miniaturization and improved operability. Then, in November 2018, the "5X Series" was released, equipped with a new movement that further reduced size and incorporated high-speed time zone correction and time transfer functions, demonstrating continuous evolution for improved accuracy and convenience.
This year, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Quartz Astron's debut, a total of 10 models are released under <Seiko Astron>, including regular models and 50th Anniversary limited editions, which inherit the futuristic case design of the original Astron while incorporating modern interpretations and advancements.
The newly added "Revolution Line" is a high-end collection characterized by its unique composite case, constructed from multiple parts created using cutting-edge metal processing technology. While based on the design codes of the Quartz Astron, its intricate form, conveying a sense of dynamism and advancement, revives the emotional, "futuristic" presence of the original for the modern era.
As the first limited edition model symbolizing this 50th anniversary, a special model featuring an inner case made of 18K pink gold will be released in June 2019. This model combines an 18K pink gold inner case with a jet-black pure titanium outer case treated with super black hard coating, and a mirrored bezel made of zirconia ceramic with 50 facets, commemorating the anniversary. The pure titanium outer case, finished with a lustrous and distortion-free mirror surface, is complemented by a delicate hairline-finished 18K pink gold inner case, creating an unparalleled and striking individuality. In July, a second limited edition model is scheduled for release, featuring a titanium case with a bezel made of a special cermet material, a mixture of ceramic and metal powder.
In September, the first all-stainless steel case for <Seiko Astron> will be introduced. While inheriting the design codes of the <Quartz Astron>, such as the gently curved case and slim bezel, it incorporates modern interpretations to create a dynamic, three-dimensional form with a beautifully mirrored case finish. The bezel is also made of stainless steel, achieving an unprecedentedly thin and narrow profile.
