A Perfect Fusion of Sophisticated Design and Technical Mastery
The new Breguet Classique 5177 Grand Feu Blue Enamel is a model that stylizes a deep blue hue for the first time on a Grand Feu enamel dial. This design perpetuates the simple, beautiful neoclassical style sought by watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet amidst the flourishing Baroque era of the 18th century. However, the new deep blue Grand Feu enamel dial accentuates this style further, imbuing it with a contemporary sensibility.
The dial's deep blue hue was achieved through the development of new pigments, meticulously recreating the shade obtained during the bluing process of Breguet hands. Furthermore, during the dial's manufacturing, the unique, smooth texture of Grand Feu enamel was realized without compromising the subtle nuances of the stable blue, even during firing in a furnace at 800 degrees Celsius.
The hands are blued steel Breguet hands with a rhodium finish, standing out crisply against the blue background. To further enhance legibility, the chapter ring's Arabic numerals, stars, diamonds, and fleur-de-lis motifs are rendered in silver and slightly enlarged. These motifs, subtly raised with powder, are inscribed with exquisite delicacy.
The movement is an automatic winding caliber 777Q. This caliber enhances precision and reliability through advanced technologies such as a silicon pallet lever and escapement, while also incorporating aesthetic elements like the shape of the gears. The rotor, a distinctive feature of the movement, is crafted from 18K gold with a guilloché pattern and can be admired through the transparent sapphire case back. Similarly, all components of the movement have been delicately finished by the artisans of the Breguet manufacture, employing techniques such as chamfering, perlage, brushing, and Côtes de Genève.
The case sides feature fluting, and the lugs, faithfully adhering to the Breguet style, are soldered to the case. A midnight blue alligator leather strap is paired with these lugs, whose tips trace a rounded line.
