The "Cairelli Model," adopted as standard issue by the Italian Air Force in the 1960s. Two new models have joined this historic line: one with a bronze case and another with an aged stainless steel case.

A Case Crafted from Two Distinct Materials

The "Heritage Pilot Cronometro TIPO CP-2," a limited edition復刻 (reissue) from 2016, is now joined by the "Pilot Cronometro TIPO CP-2 Flyback" for 2018, dressed in the latest retro style.

The case material is key to its characteristic retro aesthetic. Available in bronze or aged stainless steel, the dials feature a grained finish in bronze or slate grey. Paired with a brown oiled nubuck leather strap, lined with rubber, these models offer a distinct charm compared to the 2016 limited edition.

The "Pilot Cronometro TIPO CP-2 Flyback" is based on a military chronograph known among watch enthusiasts by the nickname "Cairelli." This model was produced by Rome-based A. Cairelli & Co. for the Italian Air Force for about 10 years from the mid-1960s, with approximately 2,500 units made. The original is highly coveted. TIPO in the name is Italian for "type," and CP stands for "Cronometro de polso," meaning chronometer wristwatch.

It is powered by Zenith's iconic El Primero 405B movement. Comprising 254 components and featuring a flyback function, this movement can be admired through the sapphire case back.
