The Aquanaut's First Chronograph

The "Aquanaut" collection, which has cultivated a unique worldview by fusing the contemporary and the classic at a high level, welcomes its first chronograph 21 years after its debut. The accent color is orange.

A New Series Arrives After 21 Years

For fans, it might be said that "finally." The first chronograph in the Aquanaut collection, the "Aquanaut Chronograph 5968A," arrives 21 years after the collection's debut.

The movement features a flyback chronograph. Like a conventional chronograph, the pushers are arranged above and below the crown, but there is a difference in the structure of the lower reset pusher.

In the case of a flyback chronograph, pressing this pusher during a measurement allows for:

Stop → Reset → Restart

in a single push. The name "flyback" comes from the fact that the measurement hands return to zero in an instant. Incidentally, with a conventional chronograph, the reset pusher cannot be pressed during measurement.

In other words, among chronographs, this model is equipped with a higher-grade chronograph function.

Furthermore, the Caliber CH 28-520 C/528 is equipped with a vertical clutch with a disk, which ensures stable operation and high reliability. Moreover, this vertical clutch operates with almost no wear, making it possible to use the chronograph hand constantly as a seconds hand. This truly impressed us, as expected from Patek Philippe.

The dial presents a clean face with only two hands for measurement: the chronograph hand and the 60-minute counter hand. Enhancing this aesthetic is the "orange" accent color. By making the measurement-related displays orange, legibility is improved.

This orange also expresses dynamism. While the Aquanaut is known for its youthful design within Patek Philippe, such a bold use of color is unprecedented. With the orange accent, the keyword "dynamic" has been newly added to the Aquanaut collection. An orange composite strap is also included, and when swapped, the bold and novel impression is further amplified.

Considering that this is the only current model that uses orange, the "Aquanaut Chronograph 5968A" can be said to be a model that embodies Patek Philippe's "new challenge."
