A Unique Watch Blending Hermès' Roots with Playfulness
At SIHH 2018, Hermès introduced the new "Arceau Casaque." The "Arceau" watch, originally designed by Henri d'Origny in 1978, retains its classic aesthetic while featuring asymmetrical lugs inspired by stirrups, giving it a distinct impression from traditional designs.
The "Arceau Casaque," a new iteration of the "Arceau," is a playful timepiece that reimagines the case as a riding arena. The dial features curved lines resembling hoof prints on sand, with a distinct horse silhouette emerging. Multiple techniques, including champlevé, lacquer, and transfer printing, are employed in crafting the dial, showcasing high-level craftsmanship alongside its playful spirit.
The vivid red, yellow, green, and blue hues were inspired by the colorful pieces of a board game. This unique watch marries Hermès' origins as a harness maker with a spirit of playfulness.
