New Movement Unveiled to Mark Brand's 20th Anniversary (1)
Parmigiani Fleurier unveiled a prototype of an entirely new movement alongside its 20th-anniversary commemorative model. While strengthening the mainspring has been the established method for extending its power reserve, this new movement takes a completely opposite approach. We'll also shed light on the forefront of this new technology.

New Technology Unveiled to Dramatically Extend Power Reserve
Parmigiani Fleurier, the manufacture founded by Michel Parmigiani, celebrates its 20th anniversary. The highlight of this commemorative year's new releases is a movement currently under development, designed to extend the mainspring's power reserve to several weeks. It is reportedly named "Sainfines," meaning "eternity" in Esperanto.
Special elastic materials used in the aerospace industry are employed to manufacture all escapement parts. The escapement design adopts the "grasshopper" escapement from the pocket watch era, meticulously controlling the balance wheel's oscillations. However, by reducing friction between parts and utilizing the elasticity of each component, power loss is minimized, thereby extending the power reserve.
Celebrating 20 Years with the Brand's First Integrated Chronograph
Many chronograph movements are constructed using a modular approach, where a plate with the chronograph mechanism is attached to a base movement. An integrated chronograph, conversely, is designed and manufactured without separating the base movement from the chronograph mechanism. Naturally, this presents significant challenges in both design and production. Indeed, Michel Parmigiani himself commented that it was something he had always wanted to create.
Indeed, this "Tonda Chronor Anniversaire" is a memorable model not only as a 20th-anniversary piece but also for housing the brand's first integrated chronograph movement, the Caliber PF361.
As a landmark model, its functions and craftsmanship are exceptional. It features a split-seconds function, big date, and a high-beat rate of 36,000 vibrations per hour. It employs a high-quality column wheel system and a modern vertical clutch for the chronograph.
The movement's components, such as the mainplate and bridges, are crafted from 18K gold, offering a divine spectacle through the sapphire crystal case back. Watch enthusiasts will undoubtedly aspire to own this exquisite chronograph.

Simple Tonda Also Beautifully Finished
While Parmigiani Fleurier's complications and chronographs, showcasing superb technology and exquisite finishing, tend to capture attention, the brand certainly does not neglect its basic models.
This is evident in the "Tonda 1950 Meteorite" lineup this year. The "Tonda 1950," with its ultimate simplicity and refined aesthetic, has become an icon of the maison today. This model, too, possesses an elegance that suits luxurious resorts.
The dial is cut from natural meteorite, revealing a unique pattern on each watch. This pattern is dyed a deep, midnight blue, reminiscent of the night sky, allowing one to feel the mystery of the cosmos up close. The craftsmanship, from cutting to finishing, is evident.
